Lloyd Stepp

The golf club is saddened to hear that Valero golf Club member Lloyd Stepp passed away on December 26th, 2021. He was 82 years old.

Lloyd played with the club from 1982 – 1986 and in 1995. He was a very strong player with both his irons and woods.

In 1983 Lloyd teamed with Andy Marquez to finish 2nd in the Best-Ball tournament at Kennedy GC. He finished first in the Lone Tree tournament, third at Franklin Canyon, second at the Tilden tournament and second at the Diablo Creek tournament. He finished 8th in tournament points for the year qualifying him for the Exxon Cup which was held at Rancho Murieta CC. He finished the year in 5th place in the Scoring Average Championship.

In 1984 he again finished first in the Lone Tree tournament and second place with partner Andy Marquez in the Best-Ball tournament at Green Tree GC. He held first place in the scoring average championship through the first four tournaments of the year. He also played in the Pyramid Tournament.

In 1985 he played in the Pyramid Tournament.

In 1995 he came back to the club and teamed up with Dan Tiburcio to win the Best-Ball tournament held at Chimney Rock GC.

During his time with the club he had 3 tournament wins, 8 top 3’s, 36.5 tournament points, 1 CP and 3 birdies. He lowered his handicap from 29 to 21.
